What the heck is "Google[bot]"

I often see this on the home page where it lists those signed in. Myself and ol' Googlebot. What's the deal with that? :?:

It is Google's indexing service that walks our forum. This makes the threads searchable when people do google searches.

I moderate a few sports Forums and a lot of the time it is just me the googlebot, Msnbot and Yahoobot as well.

Thanks. I'll try not to fear the Google BOT in that case.
